The Blitz
On the 7th
September 1940, I experienced something that I had never dreamed of. The German
bombers were coming. People were running for their lives to get to the nearest Anderson
shelter. The civilians of London were risking everything by going into a
sinister battle against the bloodthirsty enemy. All that I could smell was the
fumes from the deadly bombs that had devoured my beloved city. I could see
nothing due to the deliberate blackout. I trembled with my mother as I wrapped my hands
around her waist, listening to the deafening sirens to indicate that doom was
upon us.
