Y5/6 Literacy: The Great Kapok Tree

What we did in class today:

In class, we were looking at the Amazon rain forest and we listened to a sound clip to help us visualise the setting. We were told to close our eyes and think about what we could hear and what clues there were to suggest the setting. Here are a couple of ideas that some of us said :

Hope: "I can hear the leaves crunching."

Kamen: "I can hear birds, like parrots."

Finlay: "I think it's set in a rain forest or a jungle."

We then made a mind map showing what we already knew about rain forests and what we had learned from the sound clip and short video we watched. Here is an example of one of them :
