Lincoln Schools Festival of Cycling

What a day! Our school team (made up of 4 boys and 4 girls) took on three other schools in today's competition. Kian and Mia both received medals in the skills challenge competition in the morning. 

However, in the afternoon, things really got going, with the children competing in the individual 1km race events. Isla won the individual final to take gold, Mia won a bronze, and Poppy deserves special praise after a mechanical issue saw her lose time at the start of the final, yet she picked her way from last place to finish a fabulous fourth. 

The grand finale was the Team Italian Pursuit, with all eight children cycling together in a team time trail over 4km. Fosse Way went first and finished in 8mins 58 secs. We nervously watched the other three schools take their turn, and were delighted to see none of them could beat our time. Consequently, all eight team members were awarded with a gold medal for first place. Well done to all children involved and thank you British Cycling for organising the event.
