The Piano

The Piano
Charles' birthday flashback

Playing the piano was like pulling the trigger of a gun, shooting Charles further into the past, where he began his third and final flashback. As he brought his tenth birthday into his mind, the scent of his marvellous birthday buffet travelled up his nostrils. At the setting of the sunlit park, sweat trickled down his neck, as he was having the time of his life whilst turning double figures. He tasted the exquisite, luxurious cake that was topped with thick chocolate icing. Now on cloud nine, Charles made his B-day wish and blew out the blaze of his candles, with his family clapping with pride. He started opening his presents with a beaming smile on his face. As you do of course, he saved the biggest prezzie until last. Finally, his fingers had finished untangling the ribbons around the box. He opened the lid and out jumped the adorable face of a puppy. Above the sound of shock you could hear a pin drop. The dog, who was named Mischief, had fooling eyes and a chestnut coloured coat. Charles and Mischief were meant to be soul mates from the start. They both grew up happily side by side.
